Auto Accident in Washington County Leaves One Dead
A crash that killed one person early Wednesday morning is being investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. An accident was reported at approximately 8:30 in the morning in Warren Township near the intersection of Veto Road and Ontario Street.
Highway Patrol officials reported that a box truck was heading south on State Route 7 when it was struck by a car that did not give way to the truck.
The report stated that Lester Bowes, 60, of Marietta, was driving a 2006 Chevrolet box truck, southbound on Ohio 7. According to the report, he collided with Tammy Bauerbach, 49, of Waterford, who was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu. When Bauerbach turned onto Ohio 7 from Veto Road, he failed to give the right of way, which caused both vehicles to crash into the grass median. Disabling damage was reported in both vehicles.
At the scene of the crash, Tammy Bauerbach, 49, of Waterford, died. The box truck driver suffered minor injuries, but he was not hospitalized.
Shea’s Towing, Warren Volunteer Fire Department, Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department, and the Washinton County Sheriff’s Office all also responded to the accident scene.
This crash remains under investigation, and the Highway Patrol says the weather was not the cause.
